Divine Reflections is a mixed-media series that contrasts images of divinity and normalcy. By combining traditional media with found objects, I disrupt typical notions of fine art. The mirrored surfaces that I use as my canvas reference gilded byzantine icons. The painted and mosaiced images are a nod to this same style, but depict less “divine” characters and scenes. They are nuanced, teetering on the edge of two and three dimensions. The intimate and organic images reference secular ritual, juxtaposing the religious iconography that they reference.
